Chelsea go top, United win- It’s the Premier League Round-up

With Arsenal losing against Everton on Tuesday, it gave title rivals around them the chance to go higher in the table. Chelsea took it with delight as they beat Sunderland 1-0, to make it ten wins out of ten in the league. Liverpool also took their opportunity, as they beat Middlesbrough 3-0.

United won against Palace which kept them up with Spurs, thanks to a late winner from Zlatan Ibrahimovic. West Brom find themselves in dreamland, as they’re seventh in the table and seven points off European places. West Brom fans, can your team be in Europe next season? Have your say in the comments.

Manchester City bounced back from their criticism as they beat Watford 2-0, with goals from Zabaleta and Silva. City’s biggest problem is their defence as they’ve conceded fourteen goals in their past ten matches; they haven’t got a settled backline and John Stones is error-prone. So City fans which defenders do you want to buy in January?

Arsenal’s optimism is dented as Everton score late winner

Optimism flew into the Arsenal players and fans when the full time whistle went at Stoke. They were top of the league for the day and they had only lost once this season. However, if Chelsea win tonight against Watford, they will be six points ahead of Arsenal. So, it was an important game to win last night. However, they lost; maybe they underestimated their opponent, as Everton coming into the match hadn’t won in five games.

Last week was an exceptionally good week as Arsenal won all three matches and scored twelve goals. However, the start of this week seems to have slumped as they got Bayern Munich in the Champions League draw and they’ve lost against Everton 2-1 now.

Everton fans, with that big win, where do you think your team will finish this season?

Champions League draw, it’s happened again for Arsenal

Draw

Arsenal vs Bayern Munich

Benfica vs Borussia Dortmund

Porto vs Juventus

Leverkusen vs Atletico

Sevilla vs Leicester

Real Madrid vs Napoli

Monaco vs Manchester City

PSG vs Barcelona

It’s happened again for Arsenal as once more they play a European superpower in the last 16. Arsenal have gone out in the last 16 stage for the last six competitions, and looked destined to be going out again this year. In those last six competitions they have met teams such as Barcelona twice and AC Milan once.

Wenger was hoping for better luck with his draw.

Leicester got a relatively nice draw, compared to the big teams they could have got. However, even if they go out this round, they would have still exceeded expectations.

Leicester have played well in the Champions League this season.

Manchester City were very lucky to get Monaco, as they finished second in their group – meaning that they could only play group winners, such as Dortmund, Atletico Madrid and Juventus.

The draw that stands out with big oppositions is PSG vs Barcelona. With PSG starting to improve under Unai Emery, with some good players, it will be a tough match for Barcelona, but will their incredible strikeĀ force of MSN be too much for PSG? Predict the score in the comments.

Premier League Round-up

This weekend turned a new way in the title race. Liverpool slipped up against West Ham, as they drew 2-2 with goals from Lallana and Origi. Leaving them six points behind the leaders, Chelsea, who won 1-0 against West Brom. Arsenal, who stayed three points behind Chelsea with their 3-1 win over Stoke, where Iwobi, Ozil and Walcott were the goal scorers in that game. City, who at the start of the season were backed by many people to win the league, (not me) However their 4-2 loss to Leicester, put them seven points off top spot. It also gave Leicester a big boost in their unexpected relegation fight.

Manchester United got an important win against their top four rivals, Spurs. Mkhitaryan scored his first United goal in the Premier League, before half time to win the game. Jose Mourinho was finally happy with the result, as he had complained over the past few weeks, saying that their performance didn’t reflect on the result.

Moving from the top, Swansea won an important relegation battle as they beat Sunderland 3-0 to go ahead of Hull in the league. Palace drew at Hull after a late equaliser from Fraizer Campbell. Everton who haven’t won in five games, lost to Watford 3-2 with Koeman getting a bit of stick from his fans.

Match Previews of the Premier League this Weekend

Before every weekend I will preview some of the Premier League games coming up in the next two days. This weekend the big match would be definitely Spurs vs Manchester United. With both teams expected to be both in the mix at the top by Christmas they have both slacked off with Manchester United’s team not settled and their big signings not performing to their ability, they are thirteen points off the top, and with Spurs they have missed key men at various points of the season, such as Alli, Kane and Alderweireld they are seven points off top spot. So whoever wins will try to regain form and finish somewhere near the top of the league when it’s May.

The other big game on the weekend are Liverpool vs West Ham, the latter who needs a win after none in five games, and Liverpool who need to prove the doubters wrong after their loss against Bournemouth. A game to keep an eye on are Leicester City against Manchester City, with Leicester needing some sort of result after some fans in England predicting Leicester for the drop. However, they are up against a tough Manchester City side who are 4th in the league. Also, down at the bottom there’s Hull vs Crystal Palace and Swansea vs Sunderland.

Stones, Alonso, Ibrahimovic and more- The overrated and underrated players in the Premier League

There are many overrated and underrated players in the Premier League clubs. So I thought making a list for my first football article would be a good idea. So getting my list started for the overrated players is youngster John Stones.

Overrated

John Stones

To be fair to him, he’s only 22 and he’s at the start of his career. On the other hand, I can’t see any potential in him as he was out of the Everton team last season and is making mistakes with Manchester City; overrated youngster I would say.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic

He’s coming to the end of his career, on the other hand he scored 38 goals last season for PSG. However, he is not showing that quality in the Premier League and doesn’t fit in the United team. I can understand how he would want to carry on his career but I would advise to retire now.

Daniel Sturridge

This has been a regular sight for Liverpool fans- Sturridge warming up as a sub

He did have an amazing season in 2013/2014, although he has struggled in the past two seasons, which have been ruined by injury and form, going into this season he was hoping that he should stay injury free and get into the team. None of the above have happened; he has not been able to play a part in Liverpool’s fluid attack of Mane, Coutinho and Firmino. Moving on, he has not kept injury free, as he picked up a calf problem against Newcastle. He needs to get more playing time so in my opinion he should move to another club in the Premier League.

Underrated

Victor Moses

He has been a secret weapon for Chelsea this season in Conte’s new formation and has shown quality in being re-invented as a wing back. He has been unfairly treated under Mourinho by being put out on loan to West Ham and Stoke. However, I am sure he will have a successful Chelsea future.Image result for victor moses 2016

Marcos Alonso

Alonso, a summer signing from Fiorentina, has, similarly to Moses, excelled in Chelsea’s new formation. He benefited from Chelsea’s formation change as he didn’t look to be part of the team this season before they changed system. He looks to be part of the Chelsea team for a long time to come.

Andre Gray

Non-League to Premier League is the story of Andre Gray. Brentford brought him from Luton after he was top scorer for them in the League. A reward for his good form for Brentford got him a dream move to Burnley, but maybe the dream was the Premier League, which you could see he wanted as he was top scorer in the Championship and brought Burnley into the Premier League.

In Burnley’s second game, he scored in their fabulous win against Liverpool. However, he got an unfair ban from tweets that he had sent four years ago and since then he has been benched for most of the games. Despite that, I can see quality in Gray and think he will shine.
