Premier League Round-up

These Premier League fixtures were the last before Christmas, and many people didn’t expect to see the table like this. Chelsea are in top spot by six points- when they only finished tenth last year. Leicester are in a relegation battle, and could be the first team to win the league then go down. Lastly, no one expected United to be top, thirteen points off top spot- after Mourinho spent big this summer. However, nothing is predictable in football.

Moving on to the results, Liverpool managed to beat Everton, with a stoppage time goal from Mane. Liverpool are now second in the table. United managed to keep paces up with Spurs as they beat a tough West Brom team. Sunderland got some good news for once, as they beat Watford 1-0. However, their rival relegation battlers Swansea and Hull both lost, and they must be contemplating how a season in the Championship will be like next season. Despite disappointment for those two clubs, the biggest disappointment must be for Arsenal fans, as they have had back to back defeats to City and Everton. Arsenal seem to always have a good start to season and then fall behind at about Christmas.

Chelsea go top, United win- It’s the Premier League Round-up

With Arsenal losing against Everton on Tuesday, it gave title rivals around them the chance to go higher in the table. Chelsea took it with delight as they beat Sunderland 1-0, to make it ten wins out of ten in the league. Liverpool also took their opportunity, as they beat Middlesbrough 3-0.

United won against Palace which kept them up with Spurs, thanks to a late winner from Zlatan Ibrahimovic. West Brom find themselves in dreamland, as they’re seventh in the table and seven points off European places. West Brom fans, can your team be in Europe next season? Have your say in the comments.

Manchester City bounced back from their criticism as they beat Watford 2-0, with goals from Zabaleta and Silva. City’s biggest problem is their defence as they’ve conceded fourteen goals in their past ten matches; they haven’t got a settled backline and John Stones is error-prone. So City fans which defenders do you want to buy in January?

City, who at the start of the season were backed by many people to win the league, (not me) However their 4-2 loss to Leicester, put them seven points off top spot. It also gave Leicester a big boost in their unexpected relegation fight.

Manchester United got an important win against their top four rivals, Spurs. Mkhitaryan scored his first United goal in the Premier League, before half time to win the game.
